In case you're wondering...I am a loser. Well, not totally a loser - because I think I've got some pretty good qualities. But loser in the sense that I am not going to do what I said I was going to do. Remember back when I was so sure that I was going to run that 5K in LR? Well, I'm not. Once I got sick and my kids got sick, I never stepped on the treadmill again. And, once you quit getting up at 5, it's pretty darn hard to start doing it again. Even if it's just 30 minutes more sleep. 30 extra minutes is awesome! So, I gave up. I don't like it. But, I did it.

Last week, I got back on the treadmill and have been very consistent. No more pressure, no more guilt. Just doing what I can - which I think is what I need right now.

And...no more house cleaner. After getting rates I decided I would just do it myself. I'm just too cheap. Maybe one of these days it will be important enough to me to pay what I've got to pay to get someone to do it. Until then, I'll either have a messy house, or be tired from cleaning it myself.

Moms are busy and it's okay to just say "no" to things~ (i.e. the race). Good for you! I know exactly what you mean about a house keeper. The few times I've had one, they didn't do the job to suit me anyway! Guess I'm too picky, so I'll just keep cleaning for myself. :0)

BTW, I'm saving about $20/mo on the electric bill! yahoo!

Maybe when your kids are a little older and don't demand so much of your time, making you so tired, you will have time for a race. Don't beat yourself up about it.

As for the cleaning, I have to remind myself that in this season of my life, my house is just not going to be as clean as I would like for it to be. I am learning to live with "good enough." There are too many important family opportunities to miss out on by cleaning all the time. =)

I agree totally with Michelle. You've probably noticed that my wood floors are not all shiny. :) It's just not worth it to me when I could be spending time with Kate and Abby. When they get older, I don't want them to tell people 'My mom had really shiny floors!' I want them to tell them that we did lot of fun things and made great memories. :) Good for you on the treadmill girl!

Well, don't feel bad about not doing the race. I too backed out of the half marathon in LR, there's always next year or the year after, or the year after that...ha ha

found your blog on a friend's...
i did the same thing about a housecleaner--i wanted one so badly, so i could spend the wkends w/ family instead of cleaning (i have "day job" too) but after paying someone $80 to do a very mediocre job, i decided i'd "pay" myself $80 to do it the RIGHT way!!!! i usually do it on a week nite, after my son is in bed.
and like you, i've told myself i'd pick up running again... but haven't. i have a brand new pair of kicks waiting for me in the closet! oh well.
